| Combining two hobbies. This was sent in by a fellow photographer, Julie and her husband John, and here is what she has to say. "Taken Easter Sunday 2008. Took a cruise on a beautiful Easter Sunday. Started out with Brunch on the Delta then off to Berkley. The road is called Fish Ranch Road and winds up into the hills of Berkley. We stopped at a place called Grizzley Peak. I'm told on a clear day one can see the entire Bay Area. The shot was self timed - hence the upward look of the camera." And a fine shot it is of a fine ride and obviously a couple enjoying the day. Thanks Julie, Scooter. |
| Homebuilt#1,
Homebuilt#2 - "Here's a
couple of pics of my ride. I built this bike myself with a little help from some folks I
work with. I work at Central Tech in Drumright. The Motorcycle Technology class built my
motor for me. I actually just wanted them to put the lower end together because I'm not
comfortable with splitting cases, but they offered to do the whole thing....Works for me!.
I took the four boxes of engine components that I bought at the Jeff Williams Swap meet. I
bought a New Ultima engine case and let put it all together. Everything you see on my bike
came from the swap meet or Ebay. I have a total cost of $5165.00 in parts on this bike and
six months of my labor. I did the paint myself which I figure saved me a couple of grand.
The Motorcycle class only charged me for the gasket set for the motor. UNBELIEVABLE!. It
was featured in the Readers Rides section in Thunder Roads of Oklahoma back in Sept 2007.
It took Best Custom and Best overall Bike at the Route 66 Car and Bike Show. Anyway here
it is! And if I can do it,anybody can." All I can say is,"Wow, what a ride!" You did a great job! - Scooter |
| Blues Bro Ride - Pictured on David's new bike is his son. Is this a cool pic or what? David's says that after 35 years, he finally bought a Harley, 96 cubes, 6 speed trans and what a fun bike to ride. This story is probably familar to a lot of us, I know it is to me. It took me 35 years too. |
| A Riding Couple - I always love to get pics from folks who express their desire for riding. Becky has done that. She definitely has the fever! She tells us the following, "This pic was taken of Marty and me at Ft. Gibson a few months ago. Like I said he rides a 00 1500 Kaw Nomad and I ride a 03 1500 Kaw Classic. I started riding my own motorcycle about 4 yrs ago. Had always been a passenger. Started out on a 650 VStar, went to 1500 Drifter and now am riding my Classic. We don't really care where we ride, cuz it's all good! But my favorite trip so far has been to Biketoberfest. Was riding my Drifter at the time. Round trip was around 3200 miles and the bikes just purred all the way. They really are bulletproof." |
| One of Oklahoma's Scenic Rides - Here's what John had to say about a fantastic ride. "My girlfriend Tammy and I thought we would go for a short ride last Tuesday (Nov. 8th 2005)From Tulsa. Well, to make a long story short we ended up in S. E. OK. At Robbers Cave State Park. So we said what the hell and rode down too the Talimena Scenic Drive. We didn't get back home for two days. We meet some new friends and had a great time." |
| 2004
Screamin Eagle Electra Glide - I have a soft spot in my heart for Electra Glides.
I also love muscle in a bike. This ride hits both areas. I met Scot a
couple of years ago on the Freedom Ride. He recently picked up this ride and as you
can see, did some great riding in Colorado. He says, "This pic was taken last
September on the Monarch Pass in Colorado. The 103 stroker performed superbly in the
mountains; no trouble passing semi's on the hills, or anywhere else for that matter.
Colorado is beautiful country, and I've been there many times, but to experience it from
the seat of the Screamin Eagle provided a perspective and view that can't be truly
appreciated in a four-wheel cage." I think that you can agree that Scot gets a gold star for a great bike with a fantastic background. Superb pic. Thanks Scot! |
| Custom Built Tasmanian Skull Devil. #1, #2 - I met Tom on a recent trip to
Minnesota. Tom is a great guy and has been dedicated to his work and the volunteer
fire department of a suburb of Minneapolis. He said that this bike was
"Payoff" for many years of sacrificing. Tom took his time to think about
what he wanted in a bike and this is his brainchild. Congrats to Tom for putting
together a superb motor scooter. Update from Tom. "Last fall I decided to take the plunge and have a custom seat made by Advance Custom Design - Alligator Bob in Lake Villa, IL. It was quite the project and took almost 4 months to complete, just in time for Bike Week! It's made out of black Hornback Crocodile and Black Cherry Ostrich. The wife needed something more than the "Bitch Seat". I had the toolbag and removable backrest bag, which doubles as a purse, made to match also. It turned out fabulous!" #3, #4 |
| 2001 Fatboys, Purple
and Ice, Very Nice! P&I
#1, P&I #2 Sharon is sitting on my bike and I am sitting on hers. Here's the story: I (Scooter) went to a Rally in the area, set up camp and proceeded to the activities. I spotted a bike that was the same color scheme. This color scheme is a rare color since most dealers did not order in this color only available in 2001. I special ordered this color. So far, I have seen 2 Ultras, 1 Low Rider, 1 Sporty and now 3 Fatboys counting mine. In so much that I knew how rare this was, I brought my bike over and parked next to this one that we had encountered, knowing that the person that owned this bike would be surprised when they came back. As it turned out, about an hour or so later, I was in the area of the bike and heard a
female voice say "Wow, look! Another Fatboy the same color!" I
introduced myself and we took the pics. |
| 2000 Suzuki GZ250 Before, 2000 Suzuki GZ250 After Here is what Dave had to say about his brother's bike. "The fellow from "The
Ride" magazine took several pictures last Wednesday at Joes |
| 2002 Road King & 1990 Corvette - Al has sent in the pic of my choice of two most favorite toys. You have got to admit, they sure look good sitting next to each other. The picture says it all. Thanks Al! |
| 1970 TR6R #1, 1970 TR6R #2 - My bike (Layla) is a '70 Triumph TR6R with a homemade sidecar. I built the car the week prior to Mayfit '03 to use at Pawhuska and for short hops around town. These pictures were taken at Pawhuska the day after I finished it. I've since added a rattlecan black paint job. The hack was built around my wife's wheelchair, and has also been found useful for hauling a 700R4 transmission from my van. |
| 2003 Harley Electra Glide - You meet the nicest people on a bike, sometimes just because they have a bike. Gary H and I met at the Tulsa State Fair. We sat down to have some fair food and struck up a conversation with some folks sitting there at the table. Next thing you know, we are talking about motorcycles. Here is what Gary had to say about his bike, "I have put 8500 miles on it in the first year. it has taken me to Galveston Beach, TX, and northwest to Sturgis... I would ride it a lot more if work didn`t get in the way... hope to see you on the road" Thanks Gary, hopefully we can hook up soon! |
| 2002 - Lonnie's Custom Bike - We have been waiting for this pic for some time. Lonnie has done something that I believe a number of us would like to do, that produce his own custom bike. I heard about the progress of his bike periodically from someone other than him and finally approached him so that we could show on the gallery. Lonnie, the bike looks great. Thanks, I love you dude. |
| 2001 Harley Night Train - I took this pic over a year ago at the 2001 MAC Rally in Stroud, OK and just got the roll of film developed. This is a pic of Dave D and his Night Train. What a sweet bike the Night Train is! I have always admired this model. When I posed the question to Dave, "What made you pick out this bike?". He answered, "Well, it was the bike that was sitting there." (dramatic pause for thought) I believe that Dave felt more of a twinkle than that, especially after riding with him and knowing how much he likes his bike. |
| 2002 Harley Electra Glide Classic - We posted a pic of a great looking Sporty for Ron once upon a time. Ron had a bit of misfortune, when his missing Sporty ended up in a chop shop. Ron tells about it. "Here's a picture of the FLHTC that I bought in November of 2001 to replace it. Man, what a difference. I still think that the Sporty's are great bikes and I'd like to have another one but, I couldn't ask for a better bike for hitting the rode with." |
| 1997 Harley Dyna Super Glide - I met Scott just the other evening. He has come down from Minnesota. He said that he has worn his leathers just once since he has been down here. November, and it must feel like summer to him! Here is what he had to say about his bike. "It's a '97 that I bought from a young fellow in Chicago. A buddy lined me up with the deal...and got me a steal of a price. Since purchasing the bike I have made upgrades to improve performance and to modify my position on the bike. I swapped out the stock carbureator for a Mikuni 42MM and a Screamin Eagle air cleaner. I ditched the funky Buckhorn bars and put a straighter bar on. I lowered the rear end and added forward controls. The wind screen made a huge difference on the road. Of course like most Harleys, this one is a work in progress..." |
| 1999 V Star Classic - Definently a nice looking bike. Here is what Jean Ann had to say. "I'm looking for a name for her. I recently bought it from my sister in OKC. It has 16,000 miles on it. I'm totally in love with it! I recently went on the Freedom ride, my first, and had a BLAST!" |
| 2002 Harley Sportster - Bob P just bought this Sporty. He was going to order a 2003. Man, he had the fever. This is the color that he wanted and by gosh, he bought it. Hee, hee, I knew he wouldn't last. We sure are happy for Bob. Last report is that he put his sleeping bag out in the garage next to his bike. |
| 2002 Harley Fat Boy - Jim E just received his brand new baby Fat Boy. This jewel is the color Jade Sunglo. Jim said that he use to do a lot of Motocross and general dirt biking. Thanks Jim for sharing your new ride with us. Many enjoyable miles are ahead of you. I have a special place in my mind for Fat Boy's. |
| 2001 Harley Road King - David R submits this pic of his ride. He says that he had a Sportster and sold it to get the Road King. The license plate reads "lazy-b" whereas his jeep has a license plate that reads "lazy-a". I know a number of people that ride Road Kings. The look of a Road King is quite an attractive aggressive statement. My complements to David on his choice of rides. |
| 1976 Honda Gold Wing GL1000 LTD, #2 - We are glad to present Chris J's pics of his bike. Chris, like some of us, spent some time having raised kids and sacrificing his bike among other things to do so. Last year, Chris felt that need to do what is natural in us all that have been without a bike for any length of time....get another. He was looking for a bike similar to the one that he last own. His specific criteria in his search paid off! Here is what Chris had to say. "It had been a couple of weeks since I had looked in the classifieds, so I decided to check the ads. I opened the paper and found the motorcycle ads and there it was.."FOR SALE: 1976 GoldWing GL1000 LTD like new 14,000 actual miles. xxx-xxxx pager." I called the pager number and the seller called me back. I told him that we were getting ready to leave (from Dallas) but I would be interested in looking at it once we got back. My wife said that we should at least go by and look at it before we left and I called him back and made arrangements to see it. When we got to his house, he opened the garage and you could have eaten off the floor it was so clean. Every tool was in its own place, it was cleaner than any garage I had ever seen before. There in the middle of the garage was the GoldWing with a Honda cover over it. When I removed the cover, my wife gasped. It looked like it belonged on a showroom floor. I examined the bike and there were no scratches, dings or roadrash anywhere on the bike. I checked the numbers on the back of the speedometer against the frame number and the actual mileage was 14,427 miles. I found out that this gentleman was a retired policeman who used to be the motorcycle training officer (what's the last thing you want to do when you do it all day long at work...ride a motorcycle).....Since that time (July 2000) I have ridden it every day that I can and made a couple of short trips on it and rode in a couple of runs, including the Tulsa Toy Run last year. People are amazed to find out that it is 25 years old. It now has 23,000 miles on it and will continue to have miles put on it as often as I can. There is a satisfaction in riding a bike that you love and believe me, the way this situation developed, there is no way to not love riding it. " I am willing to bet that I am not the only one that understands how Chris feels in his description. Thanks Chris, you are our brother. |

Kawasaki ZX-9R & 1995 Kawasaki GPZ1100, #2 -
Teresa A has sent in two pics or her babies (sport bikes). On the left if the ZX-9R
and is her newest baby. She says that the GPZ1100 was totaled July of 2000.
The even worse news was that she was on it. She said the "GPZ1100 was totaled 7-23-00
on hwy 90 just outside of Jane,MO. But rode her home (no pegs, clutch or handlebars broken
- but also NO mirrors, windshield, etc. LOL) But had to BEG tape off the ambulance
crew!(to help hold pieces of fairings on) Long ride home-very painful. But she has been
restored and is as fast & beautiful as ever! However, I will have a few
lifetime scars LOL - lesson learned." I am glad Teresa got back up on that "horse and rode it". I think that you can tell that Teresa really enjoys riding sport bikes. These two Kawasaki red rockets have fast written all over them. I really enjoy sport bikes and wish to thank Teresa for a couple of fine pics of a couple of fine motorcycles. Teresa A has been out on the Hallett track. Here are a couple of pics of her. #1, #2. I think that the pictures speak for themselves. Teresa has another new bike, a pic will be upcoming, hopefully soon! |
1982 Harley FXS Low Rider - Robert L submits this pic of his '82 Shovel as he refers to it. He says that it has been a very dependable bike ever since he bought it brand new. The best I can figure from talking to Robert, this ol' bike is likely to be about half cajun. Seems like it knows it's way to Lousiana nearly all by itself. Must be something similar to autopilot. Robert decided last year to give the shovel a sibling, in pic #2, you will see his 2001 Springer Heritage on the right front. This pic was taken in Ft. Smith, on one of the many trips to Lousiana. |
| 1975 Harley FX, #2, #3 - Stephen K contributes this sweetheart of a ride! This bike has new bars, seat, lights, frontend, new wiring and lots more. He says that it has all new sheet metal and he did the paint! Wow, great job Stephen! I am impressed. He also says "It is too much fun!" I bet. |
| 1993 Harley FXDL - This jewel is custom built with 34,000 miles. Iron Mike has owned if for 22,000 of those miles. He averages about 14,000 miles a year. The paint scheme was designed by him and "Wet Willy" of Tulsa. Once you see his bike, you don't mistake for any other. He says that he hasn't really had the bike for that long, but they "have been through a lot together so far." Thanks Mike. |
