Instructions For Submitting a Flyer

(Help us in assisting you)

We do not post any flyers unless they are in jpg format!!!!   The resolution that we use for our jpg flyers is 640 pixels wide.  Another standard is the naming of the files.  We use the format in this example;  2005-10-10YourEvent.jpg .  This format for naming allows consistent chronological sorting for events.

Flyers that are received in this format, will be posted first because of the savings of time on this end.  However, if it is not possible for you to get the flyer in this format, don’t sweat it, we’ll post it anyway.  It just takes us longer.  We receive many flyers as you know by the numbers on our event page.  If we have to do the conversion, it will be posted last.

If you know how create jpg files already, you may skip the following.  Note that with some software that you would use to create a flyer, that you can save as a jpg file.

We use jpg files to post flyers because this is a format that everyone can read.   Not everyone can read a Word document with images in it.  There are different ways.  We rcommend IRFRNVIEW (Image Viewer) software. It is the software that we use to capture images and manipulate them.  You can paste into it, capture with it, crop, resize, decrease color depth, and adjust the compactness of the image.  The link to this freeware is http://www.irfanview.com/ and is a Windows compatible.  The following instructions are assuming that you are using Windows.

There are two methods:

  1. Item 2 does not work sometimes.  I have had a problem with Adobe Reader at times. With Image Viewer software active, press the "C" key.  Then it will bring up a screen that will indicate what the capture "Ctrl" key sequence is.  This sequence can be changed if in case it may conflict with another sequence on other software you use and may have open.  Rarely does this happen however.

  2. If you open a word doc or with whatever you have created the flyer, expand to full screen, zoom to where everything on the flyer is visible, and that window is the active window.  Then, press and hold "Ctrl" while then pressing "PrtScn".   At that point, the image is on the "clipboard".  Then you can go to the irfanview program and paste into it, either by going to the edit menu or "Ctrl" & "v" keys.  From that point you can crop, by using the menu, or "Ctrl" & "y", resize, decrease color depth, etc.  There is an undo item in the menu that allows you to go back one step.  "Ctrl" & "z" does the same thing.

Thank you for considering helping decrease the time load of maintaining our website.  We think you will find that it will become an invaluable tool for you use overall when it comes to graphic images.
